SAT Test Preparation

The SAT is an entrance examination, created by the College Board, that is used by most colleges and universities to make admission decisions. While this exam is very important, it is just one factor that is used in the admission process.

The SAT is offered nationally every year in October, November, December, January, March, May, and June.

SAT Format

The SAT has two sections: Math and Evidenced-Based Reading & Writing. There is also an optional essay (essay results are reported separately). The total time of the exam is three hours and fifty minutes. There is no penalty for incorrect answers. The maximum score is 1600 points, with 800 possible points per section.

What Bridges Offers

In our efforts to help students become competitively eligible applicants for college admissions, Bridges Academic Center of Excellence offers an SAT workshop in the fall and winter quarters each year. The target population is 10th through 12th grade students.

Students participate in a six-week SAT preparation workshop designed to improve test-taking strategies and familiarize students with the test format and sentence structure. Students also improve in their critical thinking, analytical reading abilities and learn skills for developing a strong thesis along with supporting evidence.

Our goal is to help students master the SAT.
